SizeMyGear does not reproduce or claim to use the internal calculator formula of Jones, evo, or any manufacturer.
The published data is turned into a recommendation in five deterministic steps:
- Published weight ranges are matched against the rider's weight.
- One finite base range is selected with deterministic SizeMyGear rules. No interpolation is used and no new range is invented.
- That base range is split into lower, balanced and upper zones, covering every whole centimetre exactly once.
- Skill level and riding style select a starting zone. The published 1–3 cm style adjustments are deliberately not applied mechanically.
- Published boot-size guidance provides a waist-width reference for the same boot size.
The zone selection described above is SizeMyGear logic applied to published ranges. It is not a third-party official formula, and it is documented in the project source alongside the data it uses.
The 225+ lb open-ended overlap
The published Jones chart contains an overlapping 225+ lb / 165+ cm open-ended range. For 225–230 lb inputs, SizeMyGear keeps the finite 215–230 lb range as the practical calculation range and surfaces the overlap as a source note.
Limitations
- The result is a general sizing starting point, not a guarantee for a specific board.
- Model-specific geometry can differ between boards of the same length.
